We can’t protect & aid people forced to flee alone. With civil society, we amplify impact, build resilience & create hope. Today, UNHCR & Danish Refugee Council celebrated 50 yrs of partnership (with signature of former HC Sadruddin Aga Khan as proof) & a new global agreement. Better together.

Outsourcing asylum isn’t a solution – it’s a dangerous precedent. The human toll is devastating, and global refugee protections are at risk. The EU must lead with compassion, not abandon its principles. Read my op-ed in The Parliament Magazine here theparliamentmagazine.eu/news/article/o… #asylum #refugees

Aid workers must never be a target. The tragic incident in Gaza adds to a long list of humanitarian workers killed while doing their jobs: 400+ in Gaza, 80+ in Sudan in just the past two years. These attacks violate humanitarian law and must stop. There must be accountability.

Today marks two years since the conflict in #Sudan began. Over 12 million people have been forced to flee, and 30 million are in need of assistance as severe hunger turns into famine. There is no solution but an immediate halt to the fighting. The suffering must end.

The cuts to aid budgets are creating a dangerous gap in global humanitarian support. In my interview with The Guardian, I emphasized that investing in humanitarian efforts prevents conflict and displacement, making the world a more secure place for all: theguardian.com/global-develop…

Aid cuts will lead to greater instability in the Middle East. Our Secretary-General has contributed to this in-depth analysis by POLITICO, once again emphasizing the critical role of humanitarian aid in promoting peace and global security: politico.eu/article/donald…

Our SG wraps up two impactful days at #EHF2025. The forum took place at a critical time, as humanitarian funding declines while crises continue to multiply. Despite these challenges, we remain on the ground — and our commitment endures.

Relentless airstrikes have killed 80+ Palestinians since Monday. In #Gaza people are bombed in their sleep and forced into starvation - we refuse to normalise such violations of international law, Palestinians need urgent and concrete action. drc.ngo/resources/news…

In Gaza, food is being handed out under military watch. Private contractors. Facial recognition. Open gunfire. Since May 27, 100+ Palestinians have been killed trying to reach food. This is not humanitarian. It is militarized control.  drc.ngo/resources/news…

Together with 160+ NGOs DRC has signed this urgent call to end the deadly distribution scheme in #Gaza. An immediate #ceasefire and the establishment of a principled humanitarian aid system is imperative to stop the suffering of the people of Gaza.
