Not everyone travelled by boat. Some flew. Several children saw their parents at the age of 9 or 10 as they had to be left behind as babies! This was the sacrifice often ignored!

🚨 I can't believe I'm saying this but... For the last 5 years I've been fighting for justice and now, finally, the police misconduct panel have found that the police officer who abused me should have been sacked.

My experience has taught me that the police cannot be trusted with women’s safety. Since reporting DCI James Mason's behaviour, I have seen first-hand how the police were more interested in protecting themselves than helping me find justice, or protecting other women.

I have spent years questioning whether the policing system can be fixed & have come to the conclusion that if we are serious about women’s safety, it needs replacing entirely. We need to abolish the police & establish a new public service that actually protects & cares for women.

Fighting for justice has been terrifying. But far more frightening to me is the kind of life I'd be living if I'd kept quiet. Hiding my trauma, living in fear of a powerful & unjust institution, feeling alone. But I’m not alone. That’s 1 thing this experience has made very clear

My legal team, loved ones, old friends & new – there’s a network of incredible women out here fighting & teaching others how. So even though it’s been hell, I encourage any woman who's suffered police abuse to speak out, to keep speaking. We’re all here for you. And we can win ❤️‍🔥

BTP survey stats were released! The overwhelming negative was the SLT! staff have NO confidence in SLT, NO trust and are NOT supported. NOT one member of the SLT has taken responsibility and held their hands up. Instead we get a patronising intranet post full of waffle.
