"Sorted out in the Lords" is such a comforting myth. A bill this bad cannot be fixed with any amount of tinkering, the fundamental structure is not suitable. MPs need to show leadership and own this decision, not kick the can down the road.

In 2017 a young British woman with an eating disorder asked her doctors to arrange for her to go to Dignitas. Drs said they couldn't as it was a crime. Her parents speak out today as MPs vote to make assisted death lawful HERE. The anorexia loophole is WIDE open.

Hugely powerful article on the assisted dying ‘anorexia loophole’ by Janet Eastham It exists. It has not been closed. And you’d be forgiven for thinking it has not even been understood by the Bill’s supporters. telegraph.co.uk/gift/4ef704514…

I follow evidence. Royal Colleges RC of Pathologists, @RCPsych & Royal College of Physicians and APM (Palliative Care), British Geriatrics Society (Geriatricians), Government Suicide adviser louis appleby & many more believe the #AssistedDyingBill is unsafe, should we not heed their expertise? #NotThisBill

The assisted dying bill is modelled on US states where women with anorexia get lethal drugs to die. None of the amendments MPs vote on today address the anorexia loophole. MPs must vote NO. Write to your MP now now now 👇👇 writeonad.theotherhalf.uk/emailmp

BBC Breaking News It’s been an uphill battle to get the concerns of the most disadvantaged groups recognised and acknowledged in the #AssistedDyingBill I’m not against assisted dying but the safeguards for those this bill creates new harms for are inadequate To those who

“The only reason I’m alive is because they never gave up.” V powerful story from a young woman who says she would have sought an assisted death in the depths of her eating disorder… today, she is not only alive but working to help others recover too.

Diane Abbott: "This may be the most fateful bill that we discuss this Parliament. It is literally a matter of life and death. "What could be more unjust than to lose your life to appallingly drafted legislation? I would not put my life in the hands of a panel of officials"

Annually, ~130 UK women are probably murdered by a partner/relative but have their deaths recorded as suicide or an accident. Assisted dying would open the floodgates for more fatal domestic abuse. Jess Asato MP

One of the most compelling speeches in today’s debate — from an MP who’s clearly taken the time to listen to experts and examine the evidence. Thank you for giving our community a voice, Naz Shah MP

(1/2) I’m not opposed to the principle of assisted dying. But until the vast majority of disabled people support the legislation, I cannot support it. Let’s fix our NHS, social care and wider society first, and then consider this topic again when the time is right.

A very comprehensive exploration of what could happen in the Lords and what freedom the House of Lords have. The session is unlikely to end until February 2026.
