Based on intelligence, SIIB (Port), Chennai seized 3,672 pieces of pyrotechnic fireworks worth ₹1.47Crs, concealed in a consignment falsely declared as cleaning equipment. Fireworks are prohibited from being imported and are only allowed with a DGFT license.

Based on intelligence, SIIB (Port), Chennai seized 4,240 imported toy drones worth Rs. 2.34 Cr on 12.02.2025. The import consignment was falsely declared as household and packaging items. Toy drones are prohibited for import and can only be imported with a license from DGFT.

SIIB-Chennai (Port) busted a counterfeit cigarette smuggling racket. Acting on specific intelligence and surveillance, 2 godowns were raided, leading to recovery& seizure of 2,20,000 sticks of counterfeit ITC branded cigarettes. Value of the seizure is ₹39.64 lakhs.CBIC

SIIB-Chennai(Port) seized 5 containers worth ₹7.5Cr, containing Toy drones,footwear,handheld fans, trimmers &toys. Toy drones are prohibited &Toys and footwear require BIS certification& IPR verification. The goods were mis-declared as personal items and accessories.CBIC

SIIB-Chennai (Port) has seized 3 containers containing globally branded Crocs, slides, loafers, and shoes, imported in possible violation of IPR. The goods were declared as trolley bags, backpacks, and ladies' bags. The total value of the seizure is ₹9.09Cr. CBIC

Based on specific input,a case of attempted smuggling of branded Footwear,Cosmetics,Sunglasses which require IPR/BIS clearance&Adult Toys,which are prohibited for import valued at ₹4.32Cr by mis declaring it as wooden spoons,was detected&seized by SIIB Chennai(Port).CBIC

Based on specific intelligence, SIIB (Sea) intercepted an illegal wildlife trade in West Jafferkhanpet, Chennai. 2 elephant tusks (25 kg) were seized under the Wildlife Protection Act. The seized contraband & 7 accused were handed over to TN Forest Dept for probe. CBIC
