16 Year 12s are ready to start their partnership with Gesamtschule der Stadt Brühl. Day 1 featured very early alarms, four countries, four languages, a coach, two trains, two trams and a tiny 'mountain climber' and just enough time to see a 600 year old section of Belgian wall...

We spent the day with Gesamtschule Brühl in mixed UK-German teams designing, cooking and eating recipes inspired by their visit to local organic farm, Biohof Bursch. With sustainability high on their European Parliament #AmbassadorSchools (UK) youth agendas, this was a fun intersection of politics and community!

Our European Parliament #AmbassadorSchools (UK) UK-German Connection collaboration continued at Gesamtschule Brühl with research on sustainability in food consumption and production, followed by cookbook production and iMovie creations - new language, new recipes, new places and most importantly new friendships!

Some students (both UK and German) opted for an after-school nature hike, hitting the local trails of Naturpark Rhineland to enjoy the winter sunset at Berggeistweiher See - with the natural tranquility occasionally punctuated by the laughs of new friendships!

Our final day with our partner school involved a sustainable chocolate workshop (and Lindor fountain), a walk along the Rhine, time in - and up! - the Cathedral, lots of exploring with new friends and a celebration dinner of traditional schnitzel, bratwurst and potatoes!

Our final day in Brühl began with an optional sunrise walk through the Naturpark Rheinland trails to Berggeistweiher lake - making the most to soak in the beauty of the region and creating memories together.

Our Year 13 A Level Drama group had their final exam yesterday with a live examiner and they were fabulous! The audience was absolutely buzzing after their performances and could not believe how good they were 😁 a massive well done to all!

Our Year 13 students are busy preparing for their Spring Assessments next week. To help get ready, build resilience and decrease exam nerves, we're doing a fortnight of risk-free, focused Timed Twilights in situ every day after school. Today: the turn of the economists.

Our Sixth Form debate club enjoyed their monthly meeting, with debate games ('I couldn't disagree more' and 60 second pitch), team planning and debates on education and diplomacy. The verdict: this house does not believe that diplomacy is dead (congratulations to Sasa and Kiril!)

Thanks to Magdalen College School, Oxford for a fantastic day at our first ever Model UN Conference. Year 12 had fun as the Iranian delegation, scripting resolutions, debating amendments, lobbying and testing the limits of diplomacy - with congrats to Sasa for his 'outstanding delegate' recognition.

Fifteen KS4 students made it to Round 2 of the National Perse Coding Team Challenge! Now working together in teams of 3 they are tackling 12 progressively more complex coding challenges. All you can hear is the tapping of keys!!! #Coding #competition #futureProgrammers

We had a fantastic evening listening to Simon Armitage and Sir Antony Gormley in conversation Trinity College on public art, thresholds to feelings, what happens to the things we make, language as play and the magic of accidental encounters with art and poetry.

Congratulations to Hannah Rolley, Rich, Innocent and Trinity College. Our students (and staff) benefit so much from their experiences with you, inspiring new interests and building academic skills that will set them up with purpose and determination whatever their next steps.

We met Karolinska Gymnasiet, Örebro at #Euroscola in European Parliament in January and this week we strengthened new #AmbassadorSchools links through a virtual partnership, working in groups to find UK-Sweden connections on topics such as media, politics, food, economy and education.

Ahead of OxfordLitFest, Year 12s enjoyed an arts journalism masterclass with professional journalist Suzi Feay. Thanks to the generous support of the OLF team, they'll put Suzi's tips on writing reviews, op eds and interviews into action with their own Festival magazine.

We selected 8 Year 13 future leaders for a masterclass series with leadership coach, Dr Maria Evans. Drawing on their determination, resolve, empathy and collaboration, they explored awareness, acceptance, actions, accountability and affirmation and how to lead with integrity.

Last week at Voice In A Million at Wembley Stadium was an AMAZING day with our KS3 students singing with 6000 other young people from around the country! 🎶
