Looking for some more tenors and basses for the choir day on 1st March. Singing works of Karl Jenkins amongst others. The Armed Man is a fine piece! chestermusicsociety.org.uk/images/2024-25…

Handel was only 22 when he wrote Dixit Dominus. He had just moved to Venice and this piece shows he had really got his head round the new and trendy style of music, Baroque. It’s still good today! Come and hear for yourself, 25th March, Chester Cathedral chestercathedral.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/sh…

St David's singing Day with CMS Choir. We enjoyed exploring a range of Welsh composers from Thomas Tomkins through Welsh folk song, William Mathias, Paul Mealor and Karl Jenkins. We concluded the day with a talk and recital of the magical world of the harp with Bethan Conway

Did you know? Bach adds a few moments which aren't in the Gospel of John: the cock crowing after Peter's denial is from Luke; Peter's tears in the same scene and the veil of the temple tearing in two at the point of Jesus' death are from Matthew. bit.ly/4aPdEzc

Our concert on 17th May features a harmonium. Rossini used it as it was very popular for use in drawing rooms all over the world. Rossini was famous for the musical soirées he held at home in Paris. In which country was the harmonium banned on national radio from 1940-1971?
