Yesterday, Chief Michael C. Miller welcomed our Jr Police Academy recruits, and they took a tour of the Police Department. Then, Ofcr Aguirre & Cpl Wood taught the recruits about patrol operations. The group rounded out Day 1 by investigating a crime scene and processing the evidence!

Jr Police Academy - Day 2! Yesterday, the recruits started their day with police academy fitness! Then, they learned room clearing and building search tactics and had a competition! The recruits finished out their day learning all about our North Tarrant Regional SWAT team!

On Thursday, our Jr Police Academy recruits met Ofcr Mattson, K9 Andy, and Ofcr Payton from the DFW Airport PD’s K9/EOD Unit. Then, the recruits learned all about Motor Officers & traffic stops. They even used the radars to gauge real-time traffic on Glade Road!

Last week, Det. Prater received one of the 2025 State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Awards for Public Service, awarded by TCOLE . Det. Prater was nominated for his esteemed skill level and compassion in helping to protect our aging community. We are blessed to have him!
