Research shows #10aDayChildCare has: ✅Created 40k jobs ✅Reduced inflation thru lower child care fees ✅Increased child care workers wages by 9%, boosting local spending ✅Helped more women return to work Now more than ever we need a recommitment to investing in child care.

There is a lot of work left to do to make #10aDayChildCare a reality for ALL families. We need to end waitlists, create more nonprofit & public spaces, & ensure fair wages for ECEs. But none of this will be possible without an extension agreement that delivers stable funding.

Affordable child care is good for kids, parents, and the economy. By reaching early learning and child care extension agreements with 11 of 13 provinces and territories, Canada is creating more child care spaces and hiring more early childhood educators. ow.ly/pYOk50VbUke

Thanks Doug Ford & Jill Dunlop for listening to the thousands of Ontario parents, educators and supporters who called for signing onto this agreement, which includes a new $16.77B commitment to child care in Ontario. globalnews.ca/video/11068979…

In 2 days, 1500+ people emailed Doug Ford about securing the future of #10aDayChildCare! This AM, Justin Trudeau announced 4 year funding deals w/ 11 provinces & territories, including Ontario. There is more work to do, but this is a WIN for families! cbc.ca/news/politics/…

Now we need Ontario to do their part to fully fund expansion of nonprofit & public spaces and fair wages for ECEs. We need every federal party to commit that #10aDayChildCare is here to stay. Parents will keep speaking out until #10aDayChildCare is a reality for ALL families!

Emotional child care announcement this morning by Justin Trudeau: “We are going to make sure that more Canadians over the coming years understand that child care is a foundational building block of what it means to be Canadian.”

Bravo to the federal government and the 11 provinces/territories who renewed agreements to keep building the $10aDay child care plan - that's important nation-building, and good news at time when it is in short supply.

Kids deserve the best start in life, and that starts with quality child care. Prime Minister Trudeau visited a local child care centre in Ottawa to highlight new child care extension agreements, helping even more parents access affordable child care for their family.

"As scholars of social policy — as well as a mother and grandfather — we believe this child care program is the biggest improvement to Canada’s welfare state since the initial implementation of medicare in 1966-67, updated via the Canada Health Act in 1984."

Analysis so timely in light of extension of $10-a-day plan to 2031 - "Trudeau’s child-care program is a massive advancement for gender equality, should be celebrated by all women, parents and more broadly, people who care about reducing social inequalities" #cdnchildcare

Big #cdnchildcare contingent at Toronto's #IWD2025 march included my MP, Chrystia Freeland, one of the intrepid women political leaders who put our 50-year struggle for universal childcare on the road to reality. As the marchers chanted "10-a-day - It's here to stay!"

Disregard the headline. Poilievre says he will go after CWELCC. He is using the language of flexibility to dismantle a program delivering affordable child care for so many. globalnews.ca/video/11097102…
