Check out some cool new research on the genomics of tuatara vision from my advisor Ryan Schott 👀🤯 Tuataras (Sphenodon punctatus) appear superficially like lizards but are actually the only living member of the order Rhynchocephalia, which is sister to the order Squamata (🦎&🐍)

Just found out I was awarded the David and Marvalee Wake Award for Best Student Talk by SICB Phylogenetics and Comparative Biology at #SICB2021 !!! It was an honor to be considered alongside so many talented student researchers! Here's a screenshot from my title slide featuring some gorgeous frog eyes🐸👀

More 🐸👀, this time with 🧬🔬💎Genomic and Spectral Visual Adaptation in Southern Leopard Frogs during the Ontogenetic Transition from Aquatic to Terrestrial Light Environments Ryan Schott Matthew Fujita Katie Thomas 🦑 Jeffrey W. Streicher biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Our paper led by Katie Thomas 🦑 & Rayna Bell investigating evolution of the diverse pupil shapes of amphibians is out in Biological Journal of the Linnean Society. We found pupil shape to be evolutionarily labile & that circular pupils are linked to fossorial and aquatic lifestyles🐸academic.oup.com/biolinnean/adv…

New research on frog vision out today in Royal Society Publishing! We used CT scanning to show that lens shape changes across metamorphosis and differs in species with different lifestyles. Led by exceptional student Amartya Tashi Mitra 🐸👀 doi.org/10.1098/rspb.2…
