There have been stunning declines in deep reading and literacy around the world. Digital reading doesn't allow for the same nuance. That benefits simplist politicians, and encourages the simplist "takes" we're seeing of the Israel-Hamas war. Me Financial Times on.ft.com/3s2m6Jl

Edward Chisholm Dear Mr. Chisholm, I'm currently reading your book and absolutely love it! It made me laugh out loud various times already and it feels like I'm right in the middle of all the action. Can't put it down and can't wait to read the rest. So happy this book exists :)

I have very kindly been invited to talk at the 🇺🇸📚American Library in Paris 🇫🇷 – December 12th at 19h30. Russell Williams (@rwilliamsparis.bsky.social) will be charing the evening. I had a lot of fun making my way through some incredible books in November: Because I Don't Know What You Mean and What You Don't - Josie Long Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro Love, Sex and Other Foreign Policy Goals - Jesse Armstrong (continued...)

Seven books I productively envy, for Geographical: Some classics, of course — plus recent books by Deb Chachra is mostly not here, Edward Chisholm and Adam Bobette. geographical.co.uk/book-reviews/w…

Going to be a top 5 but couldn’t decide between a couple of them… Some reading I’ve enjoyed this year. All superb in different ways. Top 3: Edward Chisholm’s A Waiter in Paris; A Woman of No Importance by Sonia Purnell; Nick Thomas-Symonds’s superb Harold Wilson biog #BooksOf2023

A difficult year #readingforpleasure but within the struggle I’ve loved these books. They’ve shown me other worlds and deepened my understanding of life. Edward Chisholm Debbie Tung #agathachristie Viola Davis #aliceoseman #HappyNewYear

Books I read in 2023 and loved. Found #Yellowface phenomenally gripping although I came to that party late, and #AWaiterInParis by Edward Chisholm captured its world perfectly. Strong recommendations from me for 2024!

Loved this wonderfully perceptive take on the high life and the low life (as well as everything in between) of waiters in the city of light. Beautifully observed. Poetically written. Read in double quick time - always a very good sign. #Paris Bravo! Edward Chisholm

Impossible City, my new book about the Paris of today, officially exists! Thank you, Waterstones Trafalgar Square. And if you aren't there, you can get the book here: profilebooks.com/work/impossibl…
