Rigid work requirements could restrict access to social insurance programs—without increasing employment—because of the volatility of the low-wage labor market. More from Lauren Bauer, Dr. Chloe N. East she/her @chloeneast.bsky.social, and Olivia Howard: hamiltonproject.org/publication/po…

Earnings and work hours volatility is a defining characteristic of low-wage work, reflecting not the preferences of workers but the nature of the labor market they work in. Lauren Bauer, Dr. Chloe N. East she/her @chloeneast.bsky.social, and Olivia Howard explain: hamiltonproject.org/publication/po…

Work requirements limiting access to safety net programs fail to acknowledge the volatility of the low-wage labor market, write Lauren Bauer, Dr. Chloe N. East she/her @chloeneast.bsky.social, and Olivia Howard. “Gaps in work hours are not necessarily a function of not wanting to work.” hamiltonproject.org/publication/po…

I have heard from multiple sources today that lawyers who provide Know Your Rights presentations in ICE detention centers have been kicked out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. These presentations are often the only way people in detention find out details about the process they’re going through.

President Trump sees immigration enforcement as a way to boost domestic workers, but the economics suggest otherwise. @cudenver Professor Dr. Chloe N. East she/her @chloeneast.bsky.social discusses her research on past mass deportation policy with David Gura on tonight's "Wall Street Week" trib.al/7JOdvJd

“U.S.-born workers do not simply take all the jobs left behind by immigrants after they are deported.” Dr. Chloe N. East she/her @chloeneast.bsky.social spoke to Business Insider about the labor market impact of deportations: businessinsider.com/trump-first-da…
