Thrilled to see our paper, on Carboniferous insects, used for the cover of Alcheringa! 🤩 Australasian Palaeontologists

Huge congrats to Dr. Oliver Demuth who passed his PhD viva today!! Oliver's amazing work on function & evolution of bird wings was worthy of the coveted Red Kite of Honour. This makes 3 PhD fledglings this term, along with Lizzy Steell and Pei-Chen Kuo! So proud of them all!!!

Happy to be here at the University of Liverpool presenting my PhD work so far Anatomical Society Centre for Craniofacial & Regenerative Biology

Congrats to Pei-Chen Kuo on the publication of his second thesis chapter! This is a massive investigation of morphological evolution in the avian quadrate across the diversity of living birds. Check it out in Proceedings B, open access! royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…

A new paper I'm on is out today! Led by Field Palaeobiology Research Group, we review fossils of Late Cretaceous avialans from the Maastricht Formation. These include the recently described Asteriornis and Janavis, which yield exceptional insights into modern bird origins. cambridge.org/core/journals/…

The new Natural History Museum exhibit 'Birds: Brilliant and Bizarre' is great! Engagingly curated & beautifully interprets some of our recent work like Asteriornis, the skull of Ichthyornis, & K–Pg forest collapse. Exhibit open now: tinyurl.com/48pf99h4 ©Trustees of NHM London

Very proud to have contributed to this #Microraptor study, which also concludes the 1st year PhD project of my fellow labmate Matthieu Chotard. Congratulations ! 👏🏻 The Chinese University of Hong Kong - CUHK Faculty of Science, CUHK

In a study published in BMC Ecology and Evolution, Matthieu Chotard and colleagues suggest that the metatarsal feathers in the well-known ‘four-winged’ dinosaur Microraptor, resemble a bird forewing rather than a leg, thus revealing its ability to adapt to both trees and the
