62 gun murders in Sweden in 2022, down 30% to 44 in 2024. Excluding rare mass murder of 10, first half of 2025 seen 16 gun murders & just 1 in last 2 months. Things can change, but pattern promising. And, 2024 overall homicide rate lowest in 13 years & one of lowest in last 40.

The NYT published a weak hit piece on Mamdani. They then doubled down with even weaker explanations and rationalizations. Trust in US in journalism is low. Rather than playing the blame game, news organizations need to engage in some self-reflection. Thread.
