Had a great two days at #UKDNAWG24. I presented findings from my PhD research, discussing roe deer diet, microbiome adaptations, and habitat-diet associations. Amazing opportunity to share this work as I near the end of my degree!

Our lab had a visit by Chris Hirst today! He gave a super interesting talk about diet, nutrition and rumen microbiomes in roe deer. 🦌 Lots of fun discussions as well. Thanks Chris for visiting and I hope you enjoyed sunny Uppsala. 😊

It’s done, for now! After four long years I’ve finally submitted my PhD thesis. Thanks to everyone who’s helped along the way. In the meantime, I’ll be avoiding deer and starting a new role at Forest Research in September.

I’m very pleased to have successfully defended my PhD thesis on the diet and rumen microbiome of roe deer last week and passed without any corrections. A massive thank you to my supervisors, colleagues, funders, examiners and support network who were instrumental to the journey.

I’m delighted to be shortlisted for a prize that honors such an impactful ecologist! This was a super fun paper I did with another ECR, Chris Hirst and we loved getting to show the power of using open-source, government-sponsored data from NatureScot. Thanks Applied Ecol. Resources|Ecol. Solutions & Evidence!
