We screened the 'Road to Tram Line Spot' documentary to a packed room and then Chris Lawton gave a talk about how #skateboarding has 'held the line' in the face of rapidly increasing challenges facing our city.

Our 16-min documentary, 'Road to Tram Line Spot', is now available to watch online. Thanks hugely to LeftLion Magazine Nottingham for partnering with us, in a collective effort to push #Nottingham forwards by celebrating the assets our city's communities have created: leftlion.co.uk/features/2024/…

Skateboarding is present in urban spaces, and remains so as other more mainstream actors retreat. This fact, plus our resilience & creativity, means we've "held the line" in youth engagement etc. even as alot of other stuff has fallen away. We should collectively be proud of this

Check out the Skateboarders Companion website for an article on Tram Line Spot alongside our 16 min documentary, released online with LeftLion Magazine Nottingham last week. Thanks to Rye, Leo and co as always

Some pull quotes from our article with LeftLion Magazine Nottingham telling the behind-the-scenes & what-happened-next stories from our 'Road to Tram Line Spot' doc, which you can now watch online. "Against all odds" is a bit of a slogan for communities in #Nottingham... but also a source of pride

We've not stood alone in #Nottingham more widely. Many others, especially in the contemporary arts & urban gardening movements, are doing great, great things; but we have made a lonesome stand to fundraise & deliver vital outreach & enrichment at Sussex Street for almost 2 years

As challenges in #Nottingham have grown over the last 12-18 months, particularly affecting how safe young people feel, #skateboarding has remained committed to city centre spaces - enabling us to "hold the line" by engaging and looking out for our community.

“It’s an intuitive way of engaging with skateboarding and it’s refreshing” Through a skateable feature ‘co-design’ workshop, we uncovered themes that are preferable to beginners and young people. Find out more here: youtube.com/watch?v=qq-q96… Subway® UK CANVAS

As we wrap up a busy year of sessions, workshops, events and exhibitions and pause to plan and fundraise for 2025, we'd really appreciate your views on what Skate Nottingham's priorities should be for next year: tinyurl.com/y94e7asw

In previous years' surveys, you've told us that you want to see more arts & creative workshops (we delivered 15 Creative Club sessions in 2024); and that you'd like more opportunities to exhibit and publish your work (we delivered a major group exhibition with BACKLIT)

BACKLIT Previous surveys also indicated that: you'd like to see more community-led repair of outdoor skateparks (we delivered regeneration workshops at Standhill, Arnold and Colwick skateparks in 2024); and more women & girls' sessions (we delivered 27 Skate Hive sessions in 2023-24).

BACKLIT There's still so much to do, and the challenges are changing all the time - so all insight and experiences appreciated on how we can help make #Nottingham and #Nottinghamshire the best places to visit, work, live, study and skate in 2025. Survey: tinyurl.com/y94e7asw

Stats to make you angry (3 post thread) if that helps with first day back motivation. Nottingham is one of the most disadvantaged places in the UK, within a region that receives the lowest level of public funding.

This is why we need a strategic approach to #skateboarding in #Nottingham, something we've been campaigning for since 2018. The wider East Midlands Combined County Authority is one of just x2 areas in the UK with an 'action sports' cluster. It's time we planned to grow & sustain it bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Grateful to meet with Lilian Greenwood on Friday, discussing her constituents' priorities for youth services and to enthusing about how Nottingham's unique combination of urban culture, gardening & greening, and the arts could be the key to be the first truly post-Covid city.
