It was great to see young carers highlighted in Wednesday’s debate on barriers to educational opportunity – especially thanks to Mark Sewards MP and APPG for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers Chair Chris Vince MP for focusing on the barriers young carers face related to attendance and inconsistent support.

Yesterday I was in Harlow announcing record investment in buses for the area. This was part of our £1bn boost for buses, which will help end the postcode lottery of services and keep fares affordable 🚌

I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of John Prescott. John was a true giant of the Labour movement. On behalf of the Labour Party, I send my condolences to Pauline and his family, to the city of Hull, and to all those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.

As someone who previously worked for a homeless charity in Harlow, I know the severity of this issue. I am pleased the Labour Government is tackling this issue head on - giving local councils more funding to support people without roofs over their heads in their local areas.
