Beginning #OTD in 1942, French police arrested some 13,000 French Jews in Paris. Many, including Marcelle Burakowski and her twin sisters, were then held at the Vélodrome d'Hiver, a winter cycling track. While Marcelle managed to escape, her sisters were deported to Auschwitz.
