On this day 20 years ago, Christo and Jeanne-Claude's "The Gates," a temporary project for Central Park, received the green light from former NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg. Two years later, the project was realized on Feb. 12, 2005 and visited by over 4 million people in its 16 days.
