Team Wichmann had their biannual meeting Van Andel Institute (VAI) diving into cortical dysfunction in Parkinson’s disease. Both trainees and PIs did a good job in presenting&exchanging new data/thoughts. Thanks Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s for making such a multi-disciplinary, cross-species team possible!

Dr. Luke Fischer's paper is published! Alpha-synuclein and tau pathology DO NOT overlap in the cortex in DLB. Surprising to me was the abundance of tau pathology-more so than synuclein I think (caveat- sample size is small). pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39838428/

Very interesting data “The relationship between tau and α-syn copathology is important for explaining clinical symptoms, severity, and progression, but there is no evidence for frequent, direct protein-protein interactions in the middle temporal gyrus”
