Managed a day on Noss on the way back from Fair Isle and found the islands 3rd Thrush Nightingale amongst a good fall of migrants. Birding with the legendary old lady of Noss Jen Clark was obviously the main highlight. An island that grows on me each time I visit. πŸ’™πŸŒŠ

Couldn’t think of anyone more deserving of a monster find than me pal Mr P. The birding gods work in mysterious ways but sometimes they just do the right thing πŸ’₯

What a place to watch the Final. I’m in a Puerto Rican restaurant in Banner Elk, North Carolina, wearing a kilt. Won’t forget this one whatever the result πŸ˜‚

Greenish Warbler at St Abbs Head. In a patch we call the twisted sisters. Gnarled and bowed by the elements, ready to welcome all transients from the north and east. πŸ‚

Every day different in this job πŸ˜‚ Big team effort organising helicopter operations at Grey Mare’s Tail delivering stone and fencing materials for vital footpath and conservation work. A privilege to do this job, for the love of Scotland, for the love of nature. πŸ’™πŸ¦† National Trust for Scotland

From choppers to choppy seas 🌊 Back to St Abbs in time for a quick seawatch this evening and had a belting Great Shearwater past at 1807, just my second in 5 years here. AUTUMN. IZ. GREAT. πŸͺΆπŸ‚

Something I’ve tried and failed at for years since leaving islands - finding a Woodcock on the deck without flushing it. Chuffed to have picked this one out on its moss-log bed today behind the office. (No thermals!) πŸ™‚πŸͺ΅πŸ‚

Nice arrival of Redwing at St Abbs after hearing them pouring over in the dark last night. Used to love sitting out on the river wall back in Preston counting the call rate per minute. Not a normal way for a Preston teenager to spend a Friday πŸ˜‚ - that call always takes me back!

Snow Bunting, one of a couple near the lighthouse at St Abbs Head today. A flyover Shorelark was a bonus and with Pinkies and Whoopers filling the skies, it’s hard to beat those crisp autumnal mornings. πŸ‚
