First week of fieldwork on Smithsonian’s Carrie Bow Cay done! Our days have been full of reef fish collections, dissections, and detritus trap deployments. Working w/ @gobysimon Dr Jordan Casey Dr. Christopher Hemingson Christina Marconi has been amazing & can’t wait for Kory Evans Ph.D. to join us!

We’re just over a week in to our trip at Carrie Bow Cay. In the mornings, we head out to collect fish 🐠. We return to CBC to photograph, weigh, and measure. In the afternoon, (after a quick siesta) we dissect 🔪✂️ This is a time lapse of me dissecting a grunt (Haemulon)

After some speedy dissections, we’re onto our final week of source material collections! 🪼🪸

First segment of the Carrie Bow trip done - so glad we used each specimen to the fullest! Excited to dive into collecting benthic material for more stable isotope analysis with an amazing team🪸
