The Belfast "Circle Line": The Proposal - reconnecting Belfast City Centre with Belfast International Airport, Belfast City Airport, rural villages and commuter towns, with services every 15mins, 6am - Midnight, and later at weekends. BUILD the Circle Line already! canva.com/design/DAFK0Ns…

Disappointed to see some heritage rail volunteers continue to attack the Belfast Circle Line campaign. Instead of working together to push for better rail solutions in NI, they’d rather tear down ideas that could benefit everyone. Constructive debate is welcome - trolling is not.

There is an opportunity here that when Grand Central/Weavers Cross is complete, to direct and encourage footfall along Sandy Row. What have local politicians in the area done so far to prepare to attract this footfall?

Judging by this photo, I don't think the Belfast Local Development Plan is being implemented correctly. All parties signed up to it, but few understood the requirements for density in the city centre. Density beside transit hubs at a minimum to reduce congestion in the city.

NYC is going citywide with Summer Streets: 22 miles, 5 weekends, 5 boroughs. Meanwhile in Belfast… cicloviabelfast has vanished. Why not bring it back bigger? A traffic-free day from Botanic Gardens to Customs House Square should be the bare minimum. #Ciclovia #Belfast

Time to connect Greater Belfast to Cave Hill & Belfast Castle with a Circle Line stop at Loughside Park. Just a 1-mile walk to one of our top natural landmarks - no car required. BUILD the Circle Line already! #BelfastCircleLine #BelfastCastle #CaveHill #VisitBelfast

Where once stood a roadway for 30,000 cars a day, 'Paris Plages' now transforms the banks of the Seine into a summer beach. Reclaiming space for people, not traffic. Why not Ormeau Embankment next? A car-free waterfront for Belfast is possible.

Just got kicked out of a railway Facebook group for posting about actual railway advocacy and campaign updates. Apparently, highlighting efforts to improve rail service and build new stations isn't welcome among those who prefer taking photos of trains from a safe distance.

Driving through a city SHOULD be inconvenient if you're driving at the same time as everyone else. If that bothers you, advocate for better public transit service & bike infrastructure, even if it's just so other people opt out of driving and give you more space.

🚨 Another RTC on the Westlink near Clifton Street. Both lanes were blocked. Traffic forced to exit and rejoin at Clifton St. We cannot continue to rely on the Westlink alone to move people through Belfast. It’s time to build alternatives. BUILD the Circle Line already!

The R&A may shift Saturday tee times The Open in Portrush to avoid clashing with a local parade. Two huge events on a narrow peninsula? That’s a traffic disaster in the making. We’re going to need a bigger train - or better planning.

I liked Squinter’s term “the Westlink delta” to describe the communities neighbouring this deeply toxic, trench. There’s only 1 dedicated pedestrian crossing along the full stretch. The Lagan’s getting a new bridge - so should the Westlink over to the new “transport hub”.

Low-density in a housing crisis 🆚 Mid-density done right In the middle of a housing emergency, we’re still building suburban-style sprawl in city centres. We need compact, walkable, transit-connected homes that make the most of scarce urban land.

Manchester is planning an underground train and tram system as part of a bold 10-year vision. In Belfast, we’re still arguing over bonfires and flags. One city is building for the future. The other is stuck in the past. #BuildBelfast #BelfastCircleLine

The #Twelfth in NI too often drags civic discourse into the usual trenches — bonfires, flags, and identity politics. Roll on the 13th, when we can refocus on what really matters: fixing public transport and building more housing Let’s stop sweating the small stuff.
