.Tim Miller: "USAID got shut down officially on Monday. The harm is done. A future president could come back in and restart USAID but things change, the world moves on, and it becomes very challenging to put these complex systems back together in a way that they worked before."

Leader Jeffries goes over the various letters written by Republican Representatives supporting Medicaid, SNAP, clean energy, and more--all of which the bill specifically and dramatically cuts, and yet all these signatories are still voting the budget bill. They know better.

the warnings that Medicaid cuts will lead to hospitals and health clinics closing across the country and especially in rural areas is not hyperbole or hysteria. it's basic math x.com/mattmfm/status…

Is this supposed to be a flex? Like, "your bill sucked but I hate the other guys so much I voted for it!" We're celebrating this?

House Republicans chanting “USA USA USA USA” as they strip health insurance from more than 10 million people and take food assistance away from millions including children will be permanently seared into my brain.

We still don’t even final estimates for: -how many people lose health insurance -how many people lose SNAP -who wins/loses and by how much -total Medicaid cuts -total health care cuts -total SNAP cuts Because knowing that didn’t matter to the people who supported it

When I survived a 1 in 1 million chance disease as a teen, the same U.S. health system that saved my life ABANDONED me when I needed 24/7 care for a year post-discharge. If not for Medicaid and SNAP, I would have been SOL and that medical miracle would’ve been totally wasted.💔

"Medicaid funding will go up 20% over the next years" CBO projects the Consumer Price Index will rise 22% over that period. And that the CPI for medical care will go up 31%. And this doesn't even account for population growth and aging (i.e. nursing home care). It's a cut.
