80% of all research into the effect of pesticides is on honeybees 🐝 and most focus on neonicitinoids - but what about other bees and non-neonic pesticides? Check out the new review by colleagues SUSPOLL Project Tara Dirilgen @N_E_Mahon #BES2023

Even under "Safe" concentrations of heavy metals, wild bumblebees are accumulating significant quantities of Cadmium above background levels - really exciting work by Sarah Scott @SBS429 #BES2023

The last 12 months have been a "coming of age" in ecology. It's hotπŸ”₯, it's dire but ecologists have a unique toolkit and are positioned well to step up to solve the challenges we face - Excellent policy review from Jane Stout #BES2023

Insect pollinated crops provide the majority of nutrients for small holder farmers in Nepal, but are dependent on a small number of pollinators, leading to potential nutritional implications of pollinator loss in these landscapes - Excellent work by Tom Timberlake #BES2023

Rhizobacteria inoculation can reduce aphid densities in the lab, but what about when you test under field conditions? And how do we make inoculant communities that work together to optimize these effects? Really interesting work by @SZytynska Watch this space! #BES2023

Animals are often invisible in earth system science (where the focus is on vegetation). So how do we bring animals into the productivity discussion? Excellent presidential address by Yadvinder Mahli to end a fantastic conference #BES2023

Have you ever noticed that a lot of demonstration projects (aka pilots, trials, living labs, MVPs) never get scaled up in the sustainability sector? Even when they’re really impressive and backed by good evidence, β€˜replication’ of exemplars is rare. (1/5) link.springer.com/article/10.100…

I've been explaining the "head-foot" body plan like this for years, finally got around to drawing it 😁 (Part II only exists because I got so many questions after Part I πŸ™ˆ)

Behold, the beautiful Blue-banded Bee! πŸπŸ’™ Sitting ever so delicately on my finger, it is a great opportunity to appreciate the hard-work these native bees do in pollinating and keeping our eco-systems healthy! 🌳 Have you ever been lucky enough to see a bee of the Amegilla

Twitter hive mind! Are there any #datascience #statistic folks in #Germany that would be interested in collaborating and hosting an intern for 4-6 weeks?

#WorldBeeDay Bee nutritional ecology is not as simple and straightforward as we often assume. Did you know that trees, including wind-pollinated species, and grasses are important sources of nutrients for wild bees? Find out here 🌳🐝: doi.org/10.1016/j.gecc…

Research #effort (what we're doing) and #priorities of #researchers and #funders (what we think we need to do) do not necessarily match with what #farmers priorities are - great discussion on how we move forward in research at #Groundswell24

Twitter hive mind, I'm looking for a paper that I'm sure exists, perhaps the last 5 years on #reproducibility of #science where the researchers have the same dataset to 70 labs and they all got different answers to the same question - does anyone remember that? #AcademicChatter
