Due to weather conditions, City Hall, Assessing, the Hamlin Building (Planning & Development Offices), the Library, the Community Center and Water Resource Protection will have a delayed opening of 10 AM, today, Thursday, January 25.

South Portland PD is responding to a serious motor vehicle crash on Main St at Westbrook St. This is an active investigation. Main St is currently closed from Westbrook St to Cash Corner, but is expected to reopen by 10 AM. SPPD will share additional info as it becomes available.

Update: Main St. has been reopened. South Portland Bus Service Rt. 24A is back on route and the Main St. stops are open.

Water is currently high at Bug Light and Willard Beach. South Portland Fire Department and South Portland Parks and Recreation are monitoring. Please exercise caution at the shore today and other areas in and around South Portland susceptible to flooding.

An emergency parking ban will be in effect from Weds., 4/3 at 9 PM until Fri., 4/5 at 9 AM. No parking is permitted on any City street during this time. Public lots on Waterman Drive, the Bug Light Boat Launch & Willow Street are available for temporary parking.

City offices & facilities closed. Trash pick up delayed by one day. Parking ban in effect until Fri. 4/5 at 9 AM. Bus service delays Thurs. 4/4. Check southportland.gov for updates.

South Portland Police Department has determined the scene at the High School to be safe and no threat present. The lockdown has been lifted.

The Casco Bay Bridge is currently stuck open preventing traffic from going northbound into Portland. Expect significant traffic on and around the bridge. At this point it is unknown when the issue will be resolved. Will post an update when available.

Update on Casco Bay Bridge 4:40PM: The bridge is now functioning. There was a mechanical issue likely due to the heat. Traffic is still heavy and will take a while to clear. Expect slow traffic if you need to travel on or around the bridge this evening.
