Tao Du, an outstanding Maths UG graduate in 2023, is now pursuing his PhD at University of Oxford. He enrolled in CityUHK's Joint Bachelor’s Degree Program and spent two years at The University of Edinburgh. He received degree certificates from both Universities upon graduation.

Professor Zonglong Zhu from the College of Science received $7.7 million in funding from Research Grants Council (#RGC)’s Research Impact Fund (#RIF) 2024/25, highest among the five #CityUHK’s awarded projects. CityUHK will match $3.3 million, so total funding reach $11 million.

Congratulations to the F.3 team from St. Stephen’s Girls’ College for winning the Gold Award in #CityUHK Science #Patent Challenge. Co-organised by the College of Science and the Office of the Provost and Deputy President, the Final Pitch is held today with 8 teams competing.

Effectively using AI to develop innovative teaching models, Prof. Condon Lau from Department of Physics in the College of Science is awarded the #CityUHK Teaching Excellence Award for “Digital Learning” 2024/25. He receives a prize of HK$15,000 and a teaching fund of HK$150,000.

The State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution (#SKLMP) under the College of Science (#CSCI), City University of Hong Kong (#CityUHK) was awarded the “2024 Dayu Water Conservancy Science and Technology Progress Award (2nd Class)” by the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society.

In recognition of critical research in batteries for green energy storage, Professor Jijian Xu, Assistant Professor in the Department of #Chemistry under the College of #Science, received the “#Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Awards 2025”. He will receive HK$5 million funding.

Two projects by #CityUHK College of #Science faculty members receive RAISe+ Scheme funding. Professor Qi Liu’s project has achieved breakthroughs in performance of core lithium battery materials. Professor Qichun Zhang is dedicated to developing aqueous zinc-ion battery.

#CSCI has achieved an overall success rate of 48% and secured funding for 39 GRF and ECS projects, amounting over HK$37 million, marking the largest #GRF/#ECS funding awarded since establishment. 12 CSCI colleagues have received substantial grants exceeding one million dollars.
