1/16 🧵Does this congratulatory @YorkshirePost feature about the controversial power plant Drax look real? It’s not. It’s an ad. And it’s drawn criticism that the paper enables “greenwashing.” For @NowThenMag, I investigated Drax’s influence on the paper. What I found = a lot.

Tom still hasn't been found so please keep sharing. It's really appreciated His car was actually near Col d'Escots, and the police now think that it might have been another person seen on Tuesday. So any information at all from the region could be helpful

🔴 NEW 🔴 The BBC has been producing adverts(!) for major polluters, including fossil fuel firms and petrostates with a history of persecuting journalists. As an ex-BBC journalist, I was pretty staggered when I discovered this. 📝 DeSmog report 👇 desmog.com/2024/08/22/bbc…

Journalists are meant to speak truth to power. That's our job. But what do you do when that power is your own news org? This thread (professional suicide note?) is about The Guardian & The Observer's future. Because it turns out you can’t believe everything you read on a poster.. 1/
