We are delighted to announce that The Burdett Trust has awarded grants to five projects under the Cerebrovascular Accident (#Stroke) Programme. The projects are being conducted by teams from @UCLan, Oxford Uni Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT), STHResearch&Innovation, London South Bank University - LSBU.

Lesion recovery can benefit from sleep, but stroke survivors are 3 to 4 times more likely to experience insomnia than the general population. This can slow recovery, exacerbate fatigue, and act as a risk factor for recurrent stroke. “Sleep and fatigue” session at #UKSF24. 👆

Todays jaw to the floor moment UK Stroke Forum was learning that women consistently achieve poorer outcomes post stroke than men. I shouldn't have been surprised, but I was. This is clearly just one of many unacceptable inequities in stroke care. Work to do.
