Improved weather conditions for warm season grasses has translated to more nematode samples here in SC. Got to see one we do not typically see here in the lab, but can be problematic on turf. Tylenchorhynchus species also known as stunt nematode. #Nematuesday

Looking for some off-types, again! Please message me if you have off-types in your ultradwarf bermudagrass greens. Preferably greens that were renovated from bentgrass. Looking for ~40 cup cutter plugs.

Interesting nematode samples coming into the lab last week. Check out this Hemicycliophora spp., also known as sheath nematode. Impressive stylet and extra cuticular layer surrounding the body. Looking forward to additional #Nematuesday examples across the summer.

For this #Nematuesday, let's look at Belonolaimus longicaudatus anterior morphology. Sting nematodes have very long body length (i.e., 2-3 mm), long stylets and constriction at the anterior end. These characteristics are helpful for ID.

Keeping with the theme of anterior morphology, check out this Dolichodorus sp. (Awl nematode) found in association with St. Augustinegrass. Awl and sting nematodes have long stylets, but this photo shows the anterior protuberance of the lips at the stylet opening. #Nematuesday
