I am thrilled to have my first JAMA Network publication and even better that it is with my amazing The Mullan Institute (GWMI) colleague Eric Luo! Unfortunately, we find low provider participation in prescribing #buprenorphine for OUD. #MAT jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

Eliminating the DATA-waiver is an important first step but will likely need more practice supports for clinicians treating OUD to really grow the workforce. Read our The Mullan Institute (GWMI) paper below. @cleseerikson #MAT

New The Mullan Institute (GWMI) study by Clese Erikson & Eric Luo reveals limited participation in #buprenorphine prescribing for opioid use disorder despite a steady increase in DATA-waivered clinicians between 2017 and 2021. Check out JAMA for details. #OUD ja.ma/41VNaGE

This a great example of how states can obtain valuable #healthworkforce data and insights through surveys associated with renewing licensure.

Proud to be a part of this issue of JAMA with multiple articles on opioids. The collection reinforces the need for continued efforts to support providers, to improve access to MOUD, including for incarcerated populations, and to rethink usual care around pain management.

New study shows holistic review works! “Not only is it a legally permissible way for institutions to promote equity, it also helps admissions officers identify students who are very likely to succeed.” #meded record.umich.edu/articles/study…

This change in access to T-MSIS will significantly curtail researchers' ability to examine health equity for Medicaid beneficiaries. Why make it harder/more expensive for researchers, incl. students, to access this important data resource?
