Can I just put it out there that it's not just A Level students affected by downgrading but BTEC students too. So please spare a thought for them also.

Meanwhile at Border Force HQ: Patrolman: Got this bloke, boss, name of Farage. Sounds forrin. Caught him carrying a French stick. Boss: We need to send in the Crack Team. Theyโ€™ll soften him up. Patrolman: You mean...? Are you sure, boss? Boss: Yes! Ben Dover and Marie Golds.

. @PHE_uk is under direct control of Matt Hancock. If it has failed, he has failed. The National Institute for Health Protection is simply the Health Protection Agency we used to have before it was merged into @PHE_uk in 2012 with 40% budget cuts. Hancock will still be in charge

On a summer day, Laura Knight paints two girls resting on a cliff-top at Lamorna in Cornwall. Below them, the sea strikes the rocks, the dramatic movement of the water contrasts with the women who are content to look out to sea and feel the cool breeze on their faces.

How many things does this government have to get devastatingly wrong the first time round before realising that โ€œmeh, weโ€™ll try that... see what happens...โ€œ isnโ€™t necessarily the best attitude to adopt when dealing with a pandemic.

What the hell does Dido Harding know about cervical screening, substance misuse, sexual health, contraception, smoking cessation, obesity or even pandemic planning? This from government who brought you the death of 10% of care home residents and long drives for eye tests #healthy

Sending a shout out to our hard working teachers who have taught through a pandemic, are trying to plan how to open schools - and have worked non stop this week supporting and helping heartbroken students hit by this A level catastrophe. The government wonโ€™t thank you but we do!

Regardless of who she is married to her track record is awful. If I had that behind me I would have turned the job down.Confidence in the govt and newly formed body is key to making it work and knowing I did not have it I would step aside...unless I was in it for myself of course

I attended several Ofqual meetings about the grading process. I want to be clear that all of the issues we see were raised by people who attended. It was clear that politics was getting in the way of these decisions. It was not Ofqual that created this mess, it was the govt.

Ofqual has become a convenient scapegoat for the government's own failures. If anyone should resign over this fiasco, it's the Education Secretary. theguardian.com/education/2020โ€ฆ
