Moments like yesterday don’t just happen. They take teamwork, leadership and The Labour Party at every level. Council. Mayor. MP. Government. I'm proud to work with John Cotton, Shabana Mahmood MP and Rachel Reeves to deliver real change for our communities.

Today's welcome announcement of £39bn to deliver affordable housing is a major boost for cities like Birmingham. The previous Government talked about tackling the housing crisis but Labour is delivering. This will transform the lives of so many people.

Good to catch up with new Head of BBC Midlands Kay Wright at The Mailbox yesterday. Like me, Kay is hugely excited about the Beeb's coming move to Digbeth. Sadly, I wasn't allowed to use the Tardis to go to a Clash gig in the 1980s.

Our wonderful friend and colleague, Jo Cox was such a caring and decent person. She was taken from us nine years ago today. We will always remember Jo - and strive to achieve the change she believed in - and worked for.

Today we have passed a motion which will change the way that the council collects data to routinely include 'Jewish' and 'Sikh' categories as options for a person's ethnic group. (1/2)

Great to visit Deelands Hall in Rubery today to see the vital work being done by the Birmingham Community Boxing project to support young people and vulnerable adults in the area. Proud to support them in their bid for National Lottery funding.
