Councillor Daniel Meredith 🌹 says the current owners of the Turner Brothers site are engaging with the council over the future of the unused space that was formerly home to a large asbestos manufacturing plant.

The cabinet member for regeneration and housing Daniel Meredith 🌹 is now moving his report and taking questions. He thanks the council highways team for their hard work to support and keep residents safe over the winter.

In responding Daniel Meredith 🌹 says decisions on planning applications will still have to be made in accordance with the adopted development plan for the area. He adds that the council will continue to fully engage with local residents.

In responding Daniel Meredith 🌹 says the council has been working on a list of approx 70 council owned sites, with the potential for residential development. The list of sites will shortly be presented to the cabinet, for discussion and debate by councillors.

As the questions to Daniel Meredith 🌹 continue, Councillor Irene Davidson asks, in welcoming development plans for other areas in the borough, if a development plan could now be put in place for Milnrow and Newhey. Councillor Meredith says he is happy for a plan to be developed.

In responding, council leader Neil Emmott, Daniel Meredith 🌹 and Councillor Peter Williams say it is a vital community asset and will secure the building's long-term future. Councillor Emmott says he would like something in the building about Middleton's heritage.
