Great to have my son Aodhan working with us in the winery this week. We've been racking and blending the 2019 Shiraz Viognier and the 2019 O'Riada Shiraz. Two cracking wines! Now there's nearly 200 empty barrels to wash...

My brother Stephen is a gifted musician and song writer. He has written hymns and Mass settings that are used in churches across Australia. He has just recorded his own version of the ancient Advent hymn 'O Come O Come Emmanuel’. Have a listen: stephenkirk.com.au/track/2573671/…

20 years old and quite beautiful tonight. Warm aromas, baking bread and roasted roots, deep florals and a plethora of spices. Authoritative palate, tension and cut. The back label says ‘up to 15 years’. The guy obviously has no idea.

And so ends my long “love affair” with the last bottle of my case of 2009 Tim Kirk Shiraz Viognier being enjoyed on the 1st day of 2023. An ethereal drop of great complexity and a highlight of my long association with many great wines from #Australia Happy New Year Tim 🤝🫡
