Yang Chai CCMB @ USC begins his plenary talk on spatiotemporal cell movement and dynamic fate decisions in cranial neural crest cells #SCGDB2022

What a team craniofacialgenetics! The 2022 meeting in La Jolla was a success and I had a fantastic experience working with David Clouthier, BrugmannLab, Rolf_Stottmann, JP Saint-Jeannet, Sally Moody, and Marilyn Jones

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Kristin Watt Kristin Watt will be joining our Department as an Assistant Professor later this year! Her laboratory will research the roles of RNA polymerases I and III in craniofacial development and disease using zebrafish and human cell models.

The Dept was represented well at #SCGDB2023. Congratulations to Stanley Michi Kanai (he/him) from David Clouthier on winning best postdoctoral fellow talk and Thomas Forman from Fantauzzo Lab on winning a graduate student poster award!

An NIH advisory group announced today that they're recommending the agency boost its minimum #postdoc salary to $70,000, up from the current $56,484. Many postdocs feel "underpaid and overworked," a co-chair said. My latest for ScienceInsider: science.org/content/articl…

Could not have done this without support from @amjeve Development @NIDCR and endless writing with Stanley Michi Kanai (he/him)

Our Departmental retreat was held today - full of exciting presentations and thought-provoking discussions. The future of craniofacial biology research on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus campus is bright!

Thank you to outgoing SCGDB Executive Committee members Amy Merrill Merrill_Lab (President) and Juhee Jeong (Treasurer) for all of your hard work!
