Norfolk Southern will temporarily close the railroad crossing on University Pkwy at W. State of Franklin Rd. for track maintenance May 27-29 or until all necessary work is completed. This area will be completely closed to all traffic, including emergency vehicles.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor, remember, and express our deepest gratitude to those who gave everything for our freedom. City of Johnson City offices will be closed on Monday, May 26. Operations will resume on Tuesday, May 27. Garbage and recycling will run as usual.

Heads up, drivers! Milling & paving work begins June 10 on Antioch Rd. between W. Walnut St. & Beechwood Dr. Expect lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through June 13, or until the work is complete. Expect delays & please slow down for everyone's safety.

On 6/11, crews will begin milling & paving N. Broadway St. between E. Main St. & E. Watauga Ave., lasting approx. 3 weeks. Lane closures will occur daily from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Also, the railroad crossing near J.C. Used & New Tires will be fully closed to all traffic from June 24-26.

West Oakland Ave. construction continues. The bridge is complete; finishing work is underway. Paving starts Aug. 4, with reopening set for Aug. 15. Marketplace Blvd. will close Aug. 18 for 3 weeks. Expect delays and follow posted speed limits in the work zone.

Public Works will mill S. Roan St. at University Pkwy. beginning July 21. Milling work is expected to last for 2 days from 6 p.m.-5 a.m. Crews will move to paving on July 23 from 7 a.m.- 8 p.m. Lane closures will occur. Motorists are asked to observe all posted signage.

Water/Sewer crews are working to fix a waterline break at 2025 E. Unaka Ave. The repair is expected to be completed a by 2 p.m. today, July 25. About 90 customers are experiencing low water pressure or no water. One lane of traffic is open, and flaggers are directing vehicles.
