It's #WorldLizardDay! The common lizard, Zootoca vivipara, found at Burnham Beeches & Stoke Common, can shed its tail to escape predators. The tail regrows but usually shorter than the original. This is a protected species so please do not disturb them & stick to the main paths.

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers led by Bal Kalsi and Josh from Burnham Beeches & SC who joined forces last Friday at Salt Hill Park! Together, we collected a whopping 24 bags. Every piece picked up is a win for our community and the environment.

Please be aware that feeding or petting our #cows and #ponies will result in them losing their natural ability to find food. We want the #livestock to live as naturally as possible while on the #NationalNatureReserve so we ask that visitors enjoy them from at least 5 meters away.

In autumn, most of our summer visitors (such as the blackcap) leave our shores for warmer climates. This year has been been particularly hard for #migratorybirds due to #decreasinginsectnumbers which are a vital food source for many birds. #WorldMigratoryBirdDay

🚨 Site closure notice 🚨 Due to high winds, and for the safety of our visitors, Burnham Beeches will be closed from 11am today. Please avoid visiting the reserve during this time; check back for updates before planning your visit. Stay safe and thank you for your understanding.

Burnham Beeches closure update: High winds are expected to continue into Sunday, so the reserve will stay closed over the weekend unless forecasts change. Our Ranger Team will inspect paths and boundaries Monday morning. The reserve will reopen once it's safe.
