One day you’ll actually miss the grind. You’ll miss working hard to improve and reach your goals. So cherish every practice you have!

Student-athletes who skip class, hide in the weight room, disrespect teachers, and make excuses are bad teammates. How you do one thing, is how you’ll do everything. You can’t flip the switch. Being a winner is about being consistently good. ~ via Trent Mongero

Instead of blaming others or pointing fingers, that time & energy is better spent on encouraging, cheering, helping, or creating solutions. It's amazing what can happen when we are part of the solution instead of part of the problem. ~ via Jamy Bechler

If it's about you. If it's about your playing time. If it's about your social media. If it's about your fame and notoriety. THEN IT'S NOT ABOUT US. AND IT'S NOT ABOUT WINNING. AND WE DON'T WANT IT OR NEED IT.

Just because you’ve been a starter for three years doesn’t mean your position is safe. It’s your coach’s job to play the best player, no matter their age. Therefore, never get complacent. Keep working hard as if you’re neck and neck with someone trying to take your position.

Starter or role player. Varsity or JV. Practice, scrimmage, or game. Exhibition or playoffs. Doesn’t matter. The mindset never changes: Prepare. Compete. Dominate. Circumstances don’t dictate your standard or your preparation, your habits, and your mindset do. Every. Single. Day.

The hard truth of coaching: it’ll test your patience, your purpose, and your heart. But the impact you make lasts far beyond the wins.

You take the hit, stay composed, and keep doing what’s right for the kid. That’s leadership. The Other Side of the Whistle.

Culture isn’t built in the big moments. It’s built on the random Tuesday. - How you start practice - What you tolerate - Who you praise - The standards you enforce when nobody’s watching The little things? They’re the big things.

Empty the tank. Don’t hold back. Don’t pace yourself. When the game ends, you should be spent: physically and mentally. Preparation fills the tank. Competition empties it.

The hardest part of coaching isn’t losing. It’s knowing you can’t fix every kid’s struggle. You pour your heart into all of them, and some still walk away angry. Love them anyway. That’s the job.
