#hogfbchat I love simple cues. “Strain” “Hip Height” “Trigger” Try to say less. Cues lead to self organization. Trying to “Coach habits, not mistakes” . If we are spewing out cues or coaching points every single time a player makes a mistake is that coaching?

A1: Don’t vacate until L1 is secure. Stay square. Take the air out/gain ground. Maintain leverage w/ eyes to target number. Break down+ reset hips then accelerate feet with strike. I liken it to near-foot, near-shoulder “rugby style” tackling principles. #hogfbchat

A2: GREAT QUESTION! I mainly go by film. What do we need to review/tighten up from the previous game? What are we being asked to do most in the upcoming game plan? Technique over scheme for Indy time, especially as the season progresses & new installs are just tags. #hogfbchat

A3: I teach both Dead Ball & Spiral snaps. Each Center tries both stationary then w/ movement off the ball. We go w/ what works best for them. If they are equally proficient w/ both methods, we defer to QB preference of delivery. #hogfbchat

A4: We/I use the “wider the man, tighter the aim point” terminology. For OZ/WZ, open up w/ PS leg to get position & leverage. Gain ground w/ second step & strike by third. Goal is to contact w/ BS hand first then “bracket the aim point.” Run & work hat to target. #hogfbchat

A: “Eyes, Hands, Hips, Feet” These are the 4 areas I emphasize in install & film. My expectation is that players can explain the ideal position & purpose for these areas for every concept in our system. My most successful is a mental reset: “NFP” (Next F—king Play). #hogfbchat
