If you are an athletic director, make sure you have a budget for your coaches to attend clinics. Pay for their hotel and transportation, and give them a per diem for meals. Coaching clinics are professional development that will help your coaches impact the kids in your school.

Coaching is becoming harder and harder because parents can criticize a coach from the stands or online, but if a coach points out a player’s limitations, it results in a letter/meeting to the administration. Confident coaches, have the best administrators.

AAU problem. In reality, 98% of players DO NOT belong in AAU tournaments. because mom shelled out tons of $$ expectation is to play tournaments every weekend or they’re not getting $$ worth. Bad things occur at AAU games for 98%. Great things occur at free open gym= Development
