Most HS players I watch don't need to "add to their bag" they need to repace ineffective stuff (combo moves, euro steps) with effective stuff (cutting, spacing, rebounding)

Desired outcomes of ALL offense actions: 1. Layup/FTs 2. Catch and Shoot 3 3. Double Gap 4. Mismatch - All other outcomes are net negatives for the offense - Mid range shots are a win for the defense. - Any shot attempt with less than 5 seconds left on the shot clock is a

I like the HS Live Period from a recruiting perspective . You get a chance to see kids in an organized system similar to what you would have in college. And kids actually pass the ball to each other šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚.

I’ve seen with my own eyes young teams who did nothing but press and run in transition who won a ton but then they sat the bench in high school because they didn’t know how to play in a half court setting. I’m not anti pressing but if you aren’t teaching spacing, cutting and

I just don’t understand how each state hasn’t adopted a shot clock already. The shot clock is the ultimate player development tool at the grassroots/high school. The 24-second FIBA clock that is used at the lowest levels of basketball around the world is the reason players like

Matt Bredesen Sean Crider I had 14 year olds run the shot clock in pro women’s games. This year, essentially jv players ran the clock for varsity and vice versa. Amazon has shot clocks for $400.

When you're in the lab, working on your "bag" this offseason, remember... - 50% of your shots come with no dribble (catch and shoot) - 20% of your shots come with 1 or 2 dribbles. And don't forget, the more dribbles you take, the lower your shooting percentage gets. No

Too many players can’t function w/out the ball in their hands. Can you cut with purpose? Do you space the floor properly? Can you make the right read off of a teammates drive or screen? These are the habits and skills that separate good from great.

We have gotten to a point where AAU events are charging $20 for parking, & $40 per family member to watch a 12 year old play for 30 minutes….This is EGREGIOUS!!!

Luke Harrington (@lukeharringt0n) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The AAU world has become a nasty place for a coach. Bickering parents, kids pouting whenever they’re not in the game, fighting, lawsuits threatened (personal experience), team hopping without consequence, etc. Coaches spend a lot of their own time and money to help students

University of Houston coach Kelvin Sampson with an in-season worthy smackdown of the trend of individual workout coaches that so many players rely on these days. "If you're playing in a one on zero tournament, I think you'd be pretty good. The problem is we play five on five."

Van Gundy preaching on "bags" šŸ˜‚ "Why can't these guys get a defensive bag, a rebounding bag, a pivoting & passing bag. Is that possible?" A lot of role players, all they do is workout with the ball. All they're asked to do in a game is make a layup, FT & spot up." šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

In college that ā€œbagā€ you been working on go out the window! The bag for college is: pick and roll reads, catch and shoot 3s, defending, IQ plays. The 4 move combo with the spin you will probably never do.

We all have on air shooting drills in practice… Coach Sampson was speaking to a larger issue with basketball in the US. Pick up play is less frequent in favor on 1 on 0. A by product is decision making is underdeveloped. Small sided games and a 24 second clock is the answer.
