This afternoon/evening as the news continued about ++Justin’s resignation I did what all priests are called to do: walked alongside those who needed comfort, because they were hurting There’s no better vocation than walking The Way embodying Love as Jesus did #Vocation #Priest

Being in the The Church of England today feels like being the crew on the Ever Given in the Suez - stuck, rudderless, and in need of real change. Fresh, untainted leadership is needed to steer us forward with integrity and purpose. #Safeguarding #ChurchOfEngland

Archbishop of York when did you know about Smythe? Why are you trying to rehabilitate John Sentamu? Clearly hasn't changed & won't apologise. Why didn't you take action against Glyn Webster when twice he ignored disclosures of abuse & then u made him priest in charge of a parish! Why?

LOUDfenceUK … caused 5 suicide attempts. I’ve lost my first career. My second self employed business and many relationships under immense strain. All because the CofE hierarchy has protected themselves over victims, time and time and time again.

Whilst public support for Bishop of Newcastle 🖤🤍🖤🤍🙏 from her Episcopal colleagues has been woeful. I'd like to encourage any The Church of England General Synod members to repost this in support of her brave and outstanding leadership. Helen-Ann thank you! #thanksbishop

Matthew Ineson Anglican Survivors Group Archbishop of York John Sentamu Cotterell is truly ghastly and should go, he's completely unworthy of his position. I have the great honour of being blocked by him on here, one of only two who have ever blocked me. He/they the lot of them won't tolerate criticism at all.

Another unexamined part of the scandal of Church of England Governance is the way that the rules are implemented. If you bring a complaint against a senior clergyman you do not get to manage or shape the form of the complaint. Church House lawyers do. 1/2

MartinSewell (@sewellmartin) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Despite having asked to see the “ Conflicts of interests” policy - which Synod was assured exists, it has still not been published. Archbishops’s Council, legal core groups and Tribunals are run in ways that would be unacceptable in the secular world.

MartinSewell (@sewellmartin) 's Twitter Profile Photo

If you bring a complaint against a senior Church figure they can defend themselves using documents that you have never seen, are not shared, and never will see. You cannot reference or rebut that evidence. So your case is dismissed on evidence you do not know.1/2

MartinSewell (@sewellmartin) 's Twitter Profile Photo

2/2 this is not compliant with Art 6 of the Declaration of Human Rights - the right to a fair trial but complainants cannot afford the litigation challenge and the Church knows and exploits this.

Just as a clarification: This statement - on behalf of the Archbishops’ Council - is made to correct inaccurate information provided on a national news programme by…a member of the Archbishops’ Council. This *after* the Archbishops’ Council undertook trauma awareness training.

Jasvinder Singh 'accused Archbishop Cottrell of “ignoring” 11 separate safeguarding complaints, some involving leading figures in the Church, including bishops.'

Am I right in thinking several Bishops knew all about Smyth's abuse but swept it under the carpet. Now some of them - notably Archbishop of York - are claiming horror at his actions. What new hypocrisy is this from Bishops of The Church of England?

Archbishop of York now under increasing spotlight, with calls for resignation The institution has averted the crisis for too long. House of Survivors is aware of other bishops likely to face scrutiny. CofE 'upper storey' is a mess. premierchristian.news/us/news/articl…

i notice that Rev Jody Stowell 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏴 chooses to ignore my requestsnor her to get a PSO and stop acting as the PSO. How can the CofE have people like this on synod who just flaunt all the rules. i hear her parish is down to practically nobody on a Sunday.

Anglican Survivors Group (@cofesurvivors) 's Twitter Profile Photo

more lies from thr Archbishops council. the redress scheme is NOT independent in any way. Its not even pass synod yet they assume synod will be good boys and gals as always and rubber stamp their horrendous redress scheme.

The Church of England's concealment of abuse again highlights the need for a mandatory reporting law – as recommended by the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse. National Secular Society urges Justice Secretary to act. secularism.org.uk/news/2024/11/n…
