Kicking off CO’s 2025 legislative session today was beyond special for me. Being sworn in as Sen. President among my family, friends, & colleagues was not just an honor, but a moment in our history that many of us will never forget. Let’s do this! ✨

I was humbled to be a part of the many celebrations in honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Spoke with the Ministerial Alliance on Sun, delivered remarks at the Marade, participated in a leadership panel with CBRT, & closed out with the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo.

We enjoyed spending some time with our friend Congressman Joe Neguse today!  I appreciate our newly elected Senator Iman Jodeh for leading the Resolution for World Hijab Day today as well. Great way to end a productive week!

Many thanks to the CO Coalition of Cyberschool Families for honoring me with their Golden Apple Award today as a school choice champion. Looking forward to continuing to fight for equitable and high-quality schools & school options so that all kids in Colorado may be fulfilled.

Many thanks to Gov. Polis for hosting this year's Black History event. We honored 3 trailblazers for the lasting impacts made thanks to their unwavering and exemplary service: Congressman Joe Neguse, the Honorable Leslie Herod, and the legendary Cleo Parker Robinson.

I'm joined by the honorable Janet Buckner in our Health & Human Services committee for hearing SB25-122: Extending Organ & Tissue Donation Fund. The bill just passed and is now headed to appropriations! Also had a blast meeting with students from Lukas Elementary in Westminster!

Enjoyed connecting with The Rocky Mountain NAACP today for their Annual Advocacy Day at the Capitol. Was honored to recognize Former Lt. Governor and current CO Community College System Chancellor Joe Garcia & his wife, Dr. Claire Oberon Garcia, on the Senate floor this morning.

Today we celebrate the passage of HB25-1041: Student Athlete Name, Image & Likeness (NIL). With the passage of this bill, an institution of higher education or athletic association will be required to compensate a student athlete for the use of their NIL.

I had a blast meeting Senator Mark Daly of Ireland. He came to Denver in support of the American Irish State Legislators Caucus. Jessi Kalambayi, Miss Colorado 2024, met with me to learn more about my priorities and leadership approach. Grateful for both of these leaders!

I’m reflecting on the great work we accomplished in March & the impact we made. We engaged with community during our town hall event, hosted organizations for advocacy days, met with leaders to ignite a deeper hunger for justice, equity and opportunity for all Coloradans.

The past few days have been inspiring! Met with the Center for African American Health's Leadership, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. & Alpha Psi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., & welcomed HD7 students for their Day at the Capitol.

Excited to see Construction Defects (HB25-1272) signed into law, & help the Chaffee County Democrats raise their largest amount yet!

We rocked Dem Fest yesterday! Speaker McCluskie & I teamed up to recap of the 2025 session. I also had the privilege of recognizing Micaela Parker on my team with the Murphy Roberts Rising Star award for her drive, dedication, and commitment to public service. What a great day!
