A collection that is not growing is declining. There is no stasis. Science doesn't stop, so a collection that doesn't keep up gets left behind, and begins to slide toward irrelevance. Natural history collections should be dynamic, drivers of research and archives of knowledge.

This Poster for British Railways beautifully captures my beloved Kent. This is ‘The Garden of England’ by Frank Sherwin, from 1955. So perfectly depicting a Kent village at this time of year with trees in blossom and exactly how I think of the area…

After 3 years of the media covering my campaign, I slightly lost my patience with the government. I told it like it is to Patrick Barkham. Read the whole article theguardian.com/environment/20…

Good. Anyone who thinks 'cancel culture' is something new should read the story of Oscar Wilde's arrest and the public responses at the time. So should anyone who still thinks the censors/cancellers are the good guys.

Agree wholeheartedly with this - except doesn’t even need much government funding- just needs gov to stop meddling in schools and let teachers, parents and children decide what’s best?
