3 Tom Adams covers of #AgathaChristie's for #MurderEveryMonday - While "They Do It with Mirrors" is an easy choice, "Hallowe'en Party" is less obvious - but a favourite is "The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side" w/ Adams' take on Waterhouse's famous painting of the Lady of Shallot

Penguin paperbacks began after Allen Lane visited Agatha Christie in Torquay in 1934. On the way home he found the book selection at the Exeter train station unsatisfactory & the idea for Penguin occurred. For a full history on Penguin & Christie go to: collectingchristie.com/post/penguin-b…

Today's #WorldPenguinDay which recognizes the one of the planet's most beloved animals. It was also the bird chosen by Allen Lane for the animal's eponymous 1930s paperback company. The images attached are two #agathachristie covers -a classic design & a colourful 'Games' cover.

Well next weekend's "Murder She Wrote" Festival in #mendocino California is fully sold out! There's always next year. Dame Angela Lansbury, who played Jessica Fletcher, also starred in two #agathachristie feature films. Can you name them both?

For #murdereverymonday I offer #agathachristie's "The Mystery of the Blue Train". I chose the 1st French edtn for its spelling of Blue (Bleu is not how I like my steak cooked but to each their own). While the book generates mixed reviews, I do recommend it. Book Covers

"Cards on the Table" is the May 2025 #readchristie2025 selection. Shown here is the 1939 French edition's jacket. I like how it cleverly shows that the Bridge games were occuring in 2 rooms - an important plot point for the novel.

For #murdereverymonday's theme (a broken item on the cover) I've chosen #agathachristie's 1st book - The Mysterious Affair at Styles. This 1968 Pan, No. X284, is part of their first paperback series to use photographs on the covers - here showing a crucial clue from the novel.

Given the popularity of the new TV show 'Travels with Agatha' featuring David Suchet, consider reading #agathachristie's 1946 non-fiction book 'Come, Tell Me How You Live' that recounts her archeological digs in Syria. It's an excellent travelogue. Images: UK & US 1st editions

A very unique advance copy of #agathachristie's US Dodd Mead printing of "Death on the Nile" recently came to light. I've never seen one like this before so certainly a scarce & interesting item - likely an Advance Press copy promoting their upcoming Red Badge selection.

In 1984-85, Pocket Books (US) published 33 novels in their #AgathaChristie Mystery Series. With a distinctive design aesthetic & art by David FeBland, these covers are now suprisingly hard to collect as they were not reprinted. Full details on them at: collectingchristie.com/post/david-feb…
