2.5 million soldiers from Pakistan, India & across the sub-continent helped defeat fascism as part of the British Indian Army during World War II. Almost 90,000 were killed. Let's ensure we don't forget their immense contribution as we commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.

I was honoured to speak at the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day at Central Gurdwara Glasgow about the crucial role the British Indian Army played in both World War I and World War II.  It’s important we commemorate and remember the sacrifices of all the soldiers,

Impressive scholarly research and a great instinct for the human dimension makes it gripping reading. Very grateful to him for his work on this.

I benefited from and admired Ghee’s work long before we finally met, in Exeter, in March. The sensitivity with which he explored lives of long ago & people with backgrounds very different to his own, was an inspiration. Deepest sympathies to his family.

It would be great to see his work transformed into a film. So many hidden stories brought to life by Ghee.

This is Hans, Ghee Bowman's child. I am really sad to announce that Ghee passed away on Saturday 10th May, after being ill with brain cancer for about a year. He was 63 years old; we are absolutely heartbroken. (1/2)
