Yesterday I spoke to MPs about the challenges facing working class comedians. Accommodation costs during the Edinburgh Festival are making it harder for lower income performers and audiences to visit the festival. It will make the arts even more elitist.

The live comedy sector survey showed the economic impact was worth £1b+ each year to the UK. We also know that clubs & festivals contribute to the Waitrose effect of a place & generate economic impact locally, helping to sustain hotels, restaurants, taxi's and, ultimately, jobs.
