Lovely to see Shaniqua Benjamin @eiClub’s inspiring #KhadijaSaye Scholar presenting the Culture, Diary and Social Commentator of the Year Award to Miranda Green at The Comment Awards CommentAwards. I am sure she will be a nominee herself one day soon.#eiCA18

Congratulations to our columnist India Knight whose piece on how to flirt and have sex after #MeToo won the Comment Piece of the Year award with the 2018 Comment Awards. Read it in full here: thetimes.co.uk/article/sexual…

Congratulations to @ipaperviews columnist Stephen Bush on winning Political Commentator of the Year The Comment Awards. Read him here on why the Brexit deal on offer will look much like this one, regardless of who is in Downing Street inews.co.uk/opinion/column…

Many highlights but hats off to @thesundaytimes for winning Comment Pages of the Year and Sarah Baxter collecting as both Deputy Editor and columnist, plus she also picked up India Knight award for Comment Piece of the Year. #winner

Thank you Patricia Hamzahee, we loved having you with us today

The Comment Awards Founder Julia Hobsbawm opened yesterday’s ceremony: “Editorial Intelligence stands behind the right of all comment which is expressed and published lawfully to be judged in these awards. These are our red lines..”

The The Comment Awards Comment Pages of the Year 2018 are @thesundaytimes. Niall Ferguson on Brexit today a case in point on exceptional writing. Are they what you read? Which comment Pages get your vote overall - for breadth and depth of views and for quality of writing? Which don’t?

Commentator of the Year The Comment Awards 2918 is Marina Hyde who wrote yesterday “incoming Brexit secretaries reckon they can demand a dressing room rider...I want a deal with all the bad bits taken out. Also I don’t do stairs”.

Incredibly @georgemonbiot won his first ever major journalism award from The Comment Awards on Friday and remarked it was a pity it was for writing about his own health and not the health of the planet. He picked up his prize from epidemiologist Dr Precious Lunga.

Announcing Brexit Commentator of the Year (winner Daniel Finkelstein of The Times and The Sunday Times) @philippesands, remarked that this is unlikely to be the only time such a category exists as Brexit looks like having a long run...

The last award, ten years of @commentawards went to - no irony intended - The Public. And of course it is displayed in the loo of founder Julia Hobsbawm #signofthetimes
