Today we celebrate the International Day of the Midwife. To those who care for mothers and their babies at the very start of their lives we thank you - all over the world, midwives deliver a service as no other. Enjoy your day wherever you are!

Great excitement as many head to London for our Anniversary Banquet Merchant Taylors' Company this evening. We say thank you to our outgoing Master and install Hilary Andrews as our new Master. We will dine in splendour & pass our lamp in fellowship. So very proud to be 111 in the Livery.

WCoN represented nurses at the VE Day Evensong Service ⁦St Paul's Cathedral⁩ yesterday with emergency services & armed forces. Master & six Company nurses heard readings & music celebrating resilience & fortitude of the people of London 1945 & today. The Master read a prayer.

Nurses & honoured guests assembled in East Wellow Hants, at the family church of Nightingale family to celebrate the life of Florence who is buried there. The Master was honoured to read the Nightingale Reading. The Rt Revd Rhiannon King, Bishop of Southampton gave the sermon.

Today we celebrate International Nurses Day with friends & colleagues all over the world. Let’s take a moment to reflect on the skills we have, those in our care & their loved ones. And let’s thank everyone who helps us work in this most wonderful profession. Proud to be nurses!

Commemorative Service ⁦Westminster Abbey⁩ this evening. Very moving celebrating life of Flo Nightingale. Also remembered nurses who lost their lives during World Wars & nurses, midwives, nursing assocs & support workers who selflessly provided care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Master attended panel discussion to mark Mental Health Awareness Week. Discussion on impact of mental health on workplace, lived experiences & best practice for creating workplace where everyone feels valued & supported. The City aims to prioritise mental health and well-being.

Wonderful invitation to a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in recognition of philanthropic work of our Livery Company. Immediate Past Master Col Jane Carey-Harris attended with our Assistant Clerk Kerry Hamer-Nel. The sun shone and they both had a lovely time. Looked great too!!

Red letter day today for nurses! Master & Liverymen will be at Common Hall at @Guildhall to elect Sheriffs for the ensuing year. First time our Liverymen have been able to vote in their own right as a nurse. Master will then attend flag raising ceremony in support #ArmedForcesDay

The Master joined the Lord Mayor and Livery friends to recognise and support our Armed Forces during Armed Forces Week. Flag raising at this time ⁦Guildhall London⁩ is such a moving City tradition. So proud to be there.

A very special day indeed for nurses everywhere. Worshipful Company of Nurses has been presented Lord Mayor of London, Alastair King with Letters Patent, confirming our place in the City of London & beyond. I even had 111 for my cloakroom ticket 😅 Thank you to the eight pioneers and all who have followed.

This afternoon the Master took part in the charity abseil down The Cheesegrater in aid of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, this year supporting charities working in the fields of mental health & homelessness. She has never abseiled before & we are in awe. So proud of you Master!🥳🎉
