Early in my training as a psychologist I learned that being a clinician isn't about telling people what to do. It's about helping people discover new choices for how to move forward.

I'm excited to share that after months of collaborating w/ Dave Keeler on Congruence, a voice-activated, self-coaching tool for teens, we're SO CLOSE to launching it! Here's a clip & link to the full video. For more info, visit congruence.app. m.youtube.com/watch?v=W7OlUZ…

Consider all the insights about yourself and others you gained as an adult. What if you gained those as a teen? How would you be different now?

We need to explicitly teach our students what it means to be kind and how to be a good friend, just like we explicitly teach a math concept. —Phyllis Fagell, LCPC #AMLE50

Loved seeing & learning from my friends @Aschhlevine & Dr. Tiffany Awkard today at AMLE! They talked about how counselors & principals can collaborate to support students' emotional well-being. It definitely takes a team - 620 students visited @SCMS_Counseling in Oct. alone! #AMLE50

I wish I could take Vanessa Kroll Bennett & Cara Natterson on my "Middle School Superpowers" book tour! I often reference their book, "This Is So Awkward, Modern Puberty Explained," but last night we got to present together at Sidwell, & it was MUCH more fun to just hand them the mic!

Time doesn't heal psychological wounds. Perspective does. Days passed don't guarantee insight gained. Seeing last year's disappointments through an old lens is more upsetting than viewing yesterday's setbacks from a new angle. Time creates distance. Reflection offers wisdom.
